Female road racer takes to the dirt
Honda's Lady racer Avalon Biddle, having fun while staying fit on the CRF150R.

During a mid season break, Honda road racer Avalon Biddle has been hard at work training on a CRF150R courtesy of Blue Wing Honda. The CRF150R is small, nimble and well suited to a female’s stature, and gives her the opportunity to fine-tune her bike handling skills while maintaining her rider fitness in preparation for the remainder of the road race season.
Avalon started riding trail bikes at age 7 before taking to road racing just 4 years ago. She is currently placed 2nd in the 2011 New Zealand 125GP Championships.
‘The CRF150 is an awesome machine, a little too good though. I have been doing too much riding and bugger all studying! It’s my first time riding a ‘real’ motocross bike and I have been making the most of it, tearing up our paddock at home. Engine braking and torque are almost foreign to me after riding a 2-stroke 125GP bike for so long, so this is a great way for me to get accustomed to a 4-stroke machine before moving up to a 600cc supersport bike which I hope to do later this year.’
The next outing for Avalon and the Castrol Honda road race team is at Hampton Downs Raceway in 2 weeks time for the fourth round of the NZSBK championships, where she aims to put her head down and challenge for the NZ title.
