Race report - Karl Power Taupo Enduro
Karl Power's report from the weekend at the Taupo Enduro race, the final round of the NZ Enduro Champs.
With most of the classes already tied up including the 250 four stroke I had won with one round to spare, we were there to go for the over points in the series and to get some seat time in before leaving for Finland ISDE.
Taupo is always going to be a good event due to the amount of rain that place can take and still be able to hold a decent event to race.
My day started off not so good with a crash in the first test, which I lost a fair bit of time right off the bat. So from there on in I set my goal to just to do my best without crashing to much and to finish the day.
I was posting top three times and I was still making mistakes due to the fact I was getting too excited in the special test because I was feeling fast. I even won the last test as well. In between tests I was talking with Honda team mate Chris and good friend Jamie, we were all struggling with the traction on the track and a few others around the pits were finding it hard to keep the bike on two wheels too.
At the end of the day I came into a close second second to Rory. I was happy with that because even with a few crashes I still felt fast. Also I am happy to walk away injury free because I have my eye heavily set on the ISDE in Finland which we leave in just under a weeks time to take on the worlds best at Enduro.
Also keep an eye out I will post out a video out this week with some good footage from the weekends racing.
