Chris Power race report - Maramarua 3 Day Enduro
Maramarua 3 Day Enduro Bike: 2012 Honda CRF450R Result: 3rd in E2 class / 4th overall

NZ’s only Multi Day enduro, the M3DE took place during the first weekend of December, and literally four days after I arrived back to NZ from doing the Rood of Africa.
The weather was good, my 2012 Honda CRF450 was set up perfectly and I was ready to do racing in the bush. Bu it is in the first test where I started having trouble. It was hard packed and slippery and my front washed out on a third gear corner. I put my foot down to get my balance back but I put it right onto a tree stump and gave my leg and hip a big jolt. For the rest of the day it felt like i had pinched a nerve in my hip and I couldn’t sit on my right butt cheek, nor could I reach the rear brake in a hurry. I was sore enough that I was seriously considering pulling the pin.
I finished day 1 in fourth but well off the pace of the front guys. Day 2 was much the say situation but I pushed on as the Honda team was leading the teams event. Day 3 and I woke to a much better feeling, the ‘pinched nerve’ was hardly there and I was able to push harder in the tests and came only a few seconds off winning a few of them too. But with all multi day Enduro’s you need to be there from the start and I had to settle for 3rd in the 450cc class and 4th overall.
Next up is the third round of the GNCC series this weekend (Dec 10) in Tauranga before a well deserved Christmas break.
