Avalon Biddle - Race report Tri Series Rnd2
A couple of cold, windy days greeted us in Feilding for round 2 of the International Tri-series. Fortunately my class – F2 supersport – managed to avoid the rain on both Friday and Saturday and I was able to get in some very valuable dry laps on the Honda CBR600.

Practise on Friday saw us making a lot of changes to the suspension, mainly going stiffer to handle the harsher acceleration and braking at the Manfeild track. We ended up chasing our tail a bit so I thought about it overnight and came to the track on race day Saturday with some ideas to try.
Qualifying on Saturday morning went well considering it normally takes me a few sessions for my weetbix to kick in, and I ended up in 10th position on the grid. Qualifying is definitely one area I am going to focus on over the 3 weeks of nationals racing down south.
Race 1 I was making quick progress through the field off the line only be taken down in a 3 bike pile up on the 1st corner. I got going again but had to come in to get the massive clump of mud out of rearset so ended up well down the field.
The team hosed the bike off for race 2 and I rode steady and finished up in 12th position, definitely not where I’d like to be but we had to take the positives that I stayed upright and came away uninjured and ready for the last few weeks work and training before the nationals. I’m looking forward to making the most of this time close to home, mountain biking, swimming and training with RacePace Trainers before packing up and heading south for a month. I know the rest of the team are looking forward to a few days rest after some long nights the last couple of weeks getting our bikes prepared – thanks for all your work Jamie!
A big thank you to Honda and Wolf Pack Racing for putting together a wickedly fast machine and also to Uncle Geoff & Aunty Gaye, Race Pace Trainers, Baywatch Motor Lodge Timaru, Carcolors, HJC helmets, Sidi boots,Total oil, NGK, Toledo Tools, Bearing Wholesale and Deepweb web design.
Merry Christmas all!
Avalon.
