The Honda XR125 Duster farm bikes were provided as an incentive to enter either the New Zealand Sharemilker/Equity Farmer of the Year, New Zealand Farm Manager of the Year and New Zealand Dairy Trainee of the Year competitions by December 1 last year.

“It’s the best incentive we have ever had and it helped to achieve a record number of entries,” national convenor Chris Keeping says.

The 2012 awards programme received 525 entries in total, with 381 of those eligible for the farm bike early prize draw.

Mrs Keeping says the draw took place now, as one of the conditions of entry was entrants participating in regional judging. This was now completed.

One bike was awarded to an early entrant in each competition. The winners were:

  • Sharemilker/Equity Farmer of the Year – Glen & Wendy Drummond, Culverden, Canterbury
  • Farm Manager of the Year – Brenna Wynn, Levin, Horowhenua
  • Dairy Trainee of the Year – Brett Sampson, Stratford, Taranaki.
