I managed to catch up with most of you that came along but for those who didn’t come I’ll give you a brief rundown.

It’s an Endurocross event held in downtown Auckland city with around 10,000 spectators. So with some quick math 2 + 2 = FUN!

So making it to the final race was my main goal which was quite hard to do. We had heat races that eventually ended into a “main event”. In all of my heats I had a tough group of guys I had to beat - even my team mate! With a few dirt naps and some missing skin it was finals time.

My main event can be broken down to two halves. First half was a great start out of the gate and sitting 4th with Birch and Letti (the German) trying to make moves. Birch got past and I wasn’t keen on Letti to do the same. Every chance I got to block him from the front I held my line and even cleaned some sections better than him. Second half was Letti finally got past. I felt I could hold this pace but it only took a quick brain fade to make a mistake. A freight train of riders came past and before I knew it I lost all concentration and energy – the checkered flag was out!

In hind sight my speed was good where I had the 6th fastest lap time in the main event and my goal was just to get on the starting line of the main event – all boxes ticked.
