HONDA’S LIPSETT HAPPY TO FINISH WOMEN’S SERIES

No Fear Honda’s Rebecca Lipsett finished up her assault on this year’s women’s championships in 13th place overall (out of a field of 43), after another difficult round at Horsham last weekend.

Battling injury from day one of the season, the 27-year-old described this year as the worst one she has had in her long career.

“Horsham didn't start off very well for me,” Bec commented. “A couple of laps into practice I was going down a straight and one of the girls cleaned me up! I got up and did a couple more laps but I was feeling pretty second hand.”

“I got a good start in race one and settled into sixth spot for most of the race. Around the 13 minute mark though, I started to struggle to hang on and faded back to ninth.”

Bec also came to grief in moto two after a high side resulted in a tough head-first landing.

“I actually smashed the peak off my helmet,” she explained.

“It's been really tough trying to come back from injury and to not get the results that I expect of myself. I haven't been able to do the preparation for races this year, and that's really knocked my confidence.”

The experience, however, has made Honda’s factory rider more determined than ever and she has set herself some serious goals for 2008.

“I'm just glad this year’s series is all finished for the year. I can concentrate on coming back 100% ready for 2008.”

Her current training program includes regular sessions with Honda Pro Lite rider Cameron Taylor who she will keep working with in preparation for next year.

Bec’s next events for the year include the Mt Buller Motorcycle Adventures "She Ride" at the end of this month, as well as competing in the King of the Cross Race in Western Australia on Sunday, 5th August.

“After WA, I’m getting a knee reconstruction which I’m looking forward to. I'm so glad I'm not in full time work now. It will give me heaps of time to rehab properly and to get back riding asap.
