New-look formation for Honda MX & Road Race team

After dominating wins in the 2009/10 Motocross season and making plenty of noise on the Road Racing scene, Blue Wing Honda is now ready to announce a new-look formation for its 2011 Race Programme, across both Motocross and Road Racing teams.

Raced and serviced from the Blue Wing Honda Racing Truck, new Honda MX and Superbike teams will sit under the new ‘Honda Dealer Team’ banner at all 2010/11 season events.

‘Honda Dealer Team, MX’ will contest in Motocross events including all four National Championship events, Woodville MX Grand Prix, the Auckland Champs, Whakatane MX and the two international Supercross events.

Two riders will defend the MX1 450 championship titles won in 2009 by Justin McDonald on a Honda CRF450R, and two riders will defend the MX2 250 championship title won in 2009 by Michael Phillips on a Honda CRF250R.

All four MX riders will be on new 2011 Honda CRF450Rs and Honda CRF250Rs. Additional racing events may be added to the schedule, including the possibility of events local to Honda Dealer Team, MX.

‘Honda Dealer Team, Superbike’ will contest in the NZ Road Racing Series, with five Dealer/Rider combinations, racing Honda CBR1000RR Superbikes.

Both Honda Dealer Team, MX and Honda Dealer Team, Superbike will be managed by Paul Stewart from Blue Wing Honda. Full Honda Dealer/Rider team combinations will be announced imminently, following finalisation of contracts by Blue Wing Honda.

Plus, in a new initiative by Blue Wing Honda, substantial prize money will now be up for grabs at specified events, as part of a scheme to reward the highest placed Honda riders, whether they are a Honda Dealer Team, or privateer competitors.

Team specifics will be announced in a separate press release, but if you would like to discuss the formation of Honda’s new 2011 Race Team, please contact:
