HONDA LITES RIDERS PROVE TOO STRONG AT OCEANIA
Veteran Taylor proved that he has lost no speed after an injury left him sidelined for 75% of the motocross series this year.
His form was clear in all three races, and after a seventh place finish in moto 1, the elder statesman of the sport, regrouped to finish third in moto 2 and second in moto 3, taking the second step on the podium at the end of proceedings.
“I have been training hard both on and off the bike,” Taylor said. “At my age if you don’t perform week in, week out you are written off as old and over the hill. I still have the speed and my fitness is as good as it ever was. The Honda has been awesome all year and this weekend was no different.”
New No Fear Honda rider Dean Ferris put in a brave ride after a monumental crash left him battered and bruised in qualifying.
“I was sore after my crash which was disappointing as testing had gone extremely well and I was looking forward to racing this weekend,” Ferris said.
“Even though I am happy with my fifth overall, I would have preferred to ride uninjured. The team was unbelievable; I have never experienced anything this professional in my life. I know what I need to do to improve for next year and I will start working on it as soon as I get back home”.
Privateer Honda rider Lewis Stewart also had reason to celebrate after finishing third overall on equal points with Taylor aboard his Barry Francis Honda.
Team Owner Yarrive Konsky said, “Our Lites division did a tremendous job. Both Cameron and Dean rode hard all weekend, and I congratulate Lewis on his privateer effort.”
“I must also extend our appreciation to all of our sponsors. Our Lites bikes have performed very well all year and the new 2008 CRF is a faster and better suspended unit, so as a team we are already looking forward to next season.”
